A marketing sales professional and have been the market leaders, certainly has a lot of networking. But how to market and promote a product if you do not have a lot of networks and relationships?? Recruitment Process for HALL

Recruitment process for HALL
(Story in English was written by Edi of Tantra which just passed the recruitment process in the HAL and would soon undergo training period, before working on cruise ships under the management of HAL. The story is quite detailed and long, so we were forced to part 3. Tulisan fixed we convey in English. If you are not able to understand the context of the story, then you have enough guts to make lump join cruises. Salam editor).

I'll start this information as what we all normally do when applying job, we submit our application.

You can click here to find out address of SBI, which is HAL's representative in Indonesia. After that, what we can do is just pray, pray again, or try to apply for another job in case we are not accepted. We just can not do anything due to this step, as they will call us when our application is accepted.

The first interview held at SBI's office which I've mentioned earlier. That morning, I prepared for everything that I needed in order to get the best results for the interview. When I reached SBI, there are some other applicants waiting in the waiting room, all of them came for many different purposes. Some of them are to be there for a visa or for a briefing. But some of them are the same with me, as a new applicant.

When I was called for an interview, I was a bit nervous, as it was my first job interview and I am so called Freezing after so long in the fully air-conditioned waiting room. Well, another room, this time, it's smaller, with 2 chairs separated by a desk, a tough guy sitting behind the desk, with papers and pen in front of him, and again ... the cool air conditioning. When I saying cool, it means very cold, as I get used to air-condition but not this one, it's just too cool for average people.

I entered the room and said "Good morning, morning, sir." But replied me with Indonesia, "Good morning Edy, please have a sit." Well, when he talked to me in Bahasa Indonesia, I was shocked at first, but after that I get used to it. I just needed to get off those "-bahasa Indonesian way of thinking" as I never speak Indonesian language in Indonesia before.

Next, he said "Ok, before we start our interview session, I will firstly ask you a question. Does all the information stated in your application to SBI are all the truth and no lies!" And of course I answered "Yes." Then after that, he explained that the interview session actually is just a starting session of the next steps, so it's not the real interview from HAL, it's actually a qualifying interview from SBI them self before we sent to have an interview or test from HAL .

In this session starting, the tough guy asked a few questions to test my Home. A few that I remembered are:

"Why do you want to work for HAL?"

"What do you know about THIS?"

"Where did you find out about HAL?"

"How do you Satisfy the management of HAL from the position you are applying?"

Then he asked me a little bit of skilled questions. At first I was applying as Room Service Attendant, but when they called me, I was offered in Housekeeping only. Well, I Decided to grab the chance to work in a cruise and think about what I am working later, that's why I attended the interview.

Some of the question regarding to Housekeeping position is how to set up a room (bed making) in theory. I explained to him, and after that, he open his files which contain some pictures. He showed me a picture, and asks me to describe the picture in details, short as long as meaningful. It was just a newspaper cut I guess. So worry nothing about this step.

And he told us that this step is the end. But we have to attend another test at Cikarang. He gave me a reference paper to be given to the lady at the front office. I can not remember her name, if I am not mistaken, she was Miss Christine.

Crew Partyon Cruise Ship

Crew Party on cruise ship
In our culture known for a ritual known as selametan, which is a celebration event for an activity or event. Rituals can be tujuhbelasan committee closure, increase in class, child birth, harvest, marriage, just so many events in our cultural context which closed this selametan event.

Was not a monopoly Selametan eastern nations like us but is very universal. The Western world also know the kind, for example thanksgiving. So a fairness when the yacht was, we know the crew selametan called party. Within a year we hold a crew party a lot, starting from its independence day Americans, the Philippines, the dewek, londo queen's birthday, queen's birthday David Beckham, taon renewal, welcome goodbye caribbea alaska (and vice versa), or goodbye Europe welcome caribbea (also vice versa), pass the test results of health department inspections America (USPH) and many other selametan. Just party, party and party!
Crew Party on cruise shipsThis event is usually held in messroom crew, which is where the crew ate the same kongkow-kongkow. Sometimes the front deck mooring can be used as an alternative place. This place is actually a place rolled up the hawser segede Rante elephant's trunk and anchor the ship. The event starts from eleven sampe malem two in the morning, what the hell we had to work the next morning early. Important feast!

Food and drinks were served at the table. The food served there is usually fried rice, fried noodles, chicken wing, kalby beef, roast pork, bread Philippines, shrimp crackers and many other snacks that make chubby cheeks. Digelontorin drinks at a party not far from the softdrink, beer at liqour (usually vodka, whiskey, gin and rum), enough for my head until morning kliyengan deh!
Party on cruise shipTeng eleven, the music was placed kenceng, JEDANG jedung! Bikin bottoms as head gatel pengen invited rocking. Selametan begins! Cuap-cuap steering committee did not really diperhatiin, abis more focused attention to the contents of the stomach at his drink and girls who inceran hopefully be invited one night stand. At least when the captain said a two-broken she said, just our little bit ngiyem. Later deemed not know myself. Little jaim why!

The crew began to gather, both men, women and "not a man not a woman". All tumplek tin in the meal, drink the same shake. Actually used makeup not regulated. So more towards casual, but many are still in uniform, especially children who are long diningroom hours. There is also a group who dressed like pragawati the kesambet, stir abis! Make nyokap reply bokapnya chest ngelus know this child's behavior. This group usually known by the crew of sexual orientation is not obvious, namely that the group is not a man or woman is also not known by the name of Binan / bitch. Best of most of them are Indonesian!

The character of each nation obvious. Bule same group of Filipino crew more gathered in counter drinks, only a few people join us here. Indonesian groups more often a spectator in this invitation even though there is also a part dissolved. More people we sit with her denger sweet music and enjoy the food. Filipino group close to the counter in addition to drinks, too close to where the food, so no wonder their bodies are more tranquil than our people.

It should be recognized that our nation is sometimes considered to be shy in the middle of an international group. Actually this is more to our culture that makes us less able to asertive in intercultural communication. According to the theory of communication, especially in the context of our eastern categorized into high-level context, which means in communication, our nation is more demanding speaker we better understand the things that non-verbal. Meanwhile, more northern nations leading to low-level context, which means more demanding verbal communication with the other.

The night grew late, the music was sometimes kenceng sometimes slow. The present head grew heavy even-deket deket to inclined. Funny thing kalo pas slow music, female crew fight to be invited to dance, knowing the comparison is not balanced. Kalo dapet lucky, okay to hug hug because dempetan body. After that, depending on your kelihayan in speech so that the girl or the Philippines Hooh Caucasians only when the party broke into the room invited us or even those who ngajak to his room.

At two tank, which was over selametan marked by a halt to the music and turned on the lights. The remaining live trash strewn everywhere. With unsteady steps the crew returned to their cabin, unless they are lucky dapet couples. One party is over and tomorrow morning we should start with a routine again. A little sleep is bad to reduce the head weight for the influence of alcohol are consumed. Relax, there are many other parties waiting in the days ahead. When the night was not lucky dapet couples, it is not impossible turn to your next party.

Personal Experiences of Dining Room Steward Holland America Line

Dining Room Steward Holland America LineFun, beginning when the picture was going to try to work on cruise ships. Around the world for free, visit the centers of the world tourism destinations, paid high for Indonesia, other nations recognize the different characters.

When received with about 40 other people, we are required to attend training in BPLP Bali then spliced in Lenteng Agung. For some of us at that time bete must also undergo this training because many of us are graduates of hospitality D3 so the material we have to learn is limited to the repetition of material in college. But the procedure had to be undertaken to achieve uniformity of skill we have mastered the standard Holland America Line requested.

Ups and downs of training that will take up a lot of this writing the page when I tell complete. But there are experiences that I will not forget. I've dropped the statue on BPLP gede Bali since been hit while chasing time in the practice of F & B service. And that statue 3 times the size of my body is thin. Academic side BPLP Bali asked me to replace the statue. Just imagine if you must buy your own at Batu Bulan area and was carrying a statue of the elephant segede child to college BPLP in Nusa Dua. Very impressive. In Great Lenteng another story. We must learn from morning till night interrupted lunch and dinner. Boring and stressful, so I could get migraines. But because the motivation to work on the ship so passionate, does not feel waktupun passed.
Dining Room Steward Holland America Line
After Lenteng Great was the anticipation. Waiting is not fun work. One by one we get a call transfer to work, until finally my turn came, too. We were all sent to the ss Rotterdam for this ship to ship for the rookie trainer like us.

Work hard to become a part of our daily life. The first weeks into hell, our seniors made hazing As with the material. Looks confused and panicked look very clear in our faces. We also have not done mind set adjustment that is Indonesia with a much different environment. Sweat of our bodies is always flooded. Very tiring.

Working hours adjusted dining room steward with meals. We had to work since breakfast, lunch, dinner until late snack. The time between the hours of eating the rest of our time. Although sometimes taken at that time we also have to work, for example afternoon tea after a working lunch. Working at afternoon tea is very frustrating because we work from lunch and afternoon tea connected directly prepare dinner for the work .. I hate it!
Dining Room Steward Holland America LineBy the work is the reluctance of our dinner. Working dinner very draining, especially for those who work in the afternoon tea was truly exhausted slump Why, because we will face two periods dinner from 5:30 hours until 10:30 that night. So after dinner tired faces painted on each dining room steward, especially the new kids like us. After that a late snack for our dinner in the mess room, with our limp into the cabin to lay down so that tomorrow morning we are ready to sweat again. We worked on average for 11 hours a day, 7 days per week during the contract unless it is sick and the doctor recommended it to istrirahat.

Welcome on Board

welcome on boardWelcome in the cruise ship, they ussually say welcome on board. Once inside the door and party boat I was greeted Mr Alex, one of the head steward who also came from Indonesia, into the waiting room on deck B. we delivered to each cabin after a life jacket. I carefully consider every hallway and deck that I was going through, including a row of the crew cabin. The cabin where I would spend days on this ship looks neat, though the room size 3 x 4 meters was filled with a 4 person apartment bed model. Inside the cabin is a desk, mirror, wardrobe, and sink.
Later I and a group gathered in taylor section to take uniform and shoes. Taylor section officer in the service we are Philippines. In addition to Indonesian, the other two classes of workers came from the Philippines. First-class workers, of course, comes from a combination of these two company names, namely the U.S. and the Netherlands. The Americans handled the field of entertainment such as tours, casino, and theater. Most of the Dutch shipping and handling of hotel management, from the Captain, Chief of Engineer, Purser, Hotel Manager, Chef D 'Cuisine, and the Maitre D' Hotel. (Only a small proportion of Indonesia that could occupy the position of Maitre D 'Hotel).
Back to the matter of uniform, I got two sets of uniforms for service breakfast and lunch and two sets for dinner. The uniform consists of a long-sleeved shirt with white, black trousers, vests and full coat, navy blue with red on the collar. I also have black shoes, such as police shoes. I immediately thought, how brave I was at the time wearing that uniform.
After all completed uniform business, Mr. Alex swiftly ushered us immediately all around the ship as part of orientation at work. The first place we visited was the dinning room. This room is very spacious. With flowers carpet the red color and combination dining tables and chairs purplish blue color, looks beautiful and dignified. Above the ceiling dinning room, looking chandelier hanging reflective golden color.
Tables and chairs in the dinning room is divided into three major groups, namely the stomach next to left, center and right. Tables and chairs were clustered into formation varies between 2 to 8 seats per table. The shape also varies his desk, among others, form a rectangle, long side and round. Rectangle containing two chairs facing each other, the rectangle containing four to six seats, and includes a round table of eight seats in a circle. Each table group is equipped with a desk waitresses usually called commote. Complete with all the equipment.
After satisfying the den watching dinning room, we were invited into the kitchen with the escalator stairs. Seen most of the existing equipment in the kitchen are made of stainless steel. Impressed stout but clean and hygienic.
Here there are many large closet, also of stainless steel, which keeps food cold and hot (cold & hot storage). Here is stored a variety of materials ranging from the vegetable, fruit, meat, pastry, until the milk and juice.
Somewhat separate kitchen with room, but still one floor, is the dishwashing room. Form of automatic washing machines is circular with a few stops and conveyor belts to move the plates, glasses, and other equipment that will be washed.
In particular, Sir Alex also explained that the kitchen and dishwashing room should be kept clean and sterile from a variety of germs. For that purpose, must be cleaned periodically. In fact, suddenly there was an inspection of USPH (United States of Public Health) to check the cleanliness of the ship. If there is kesemberonoan in maintaining cleanliness, it is very heavy sanctions. The ship can not continue his voyage.
The size of the smallest cleanliness can be measured from the level of discipline every kitchen staff to always wear plastic gloves (gloves) when working out and touch the food.
For their kitchen hygiene is important, because this is where the source of food supply for all passenger ships. Once contaminated, the passengers would have to bear the risk, put such poisoning that led to the death!

Experience at Puerto Vallarta Mexico With Hall

This experience is from my friend story, when he still working at Holland American Line Cruise Ship. This is true story!!
Town on the west coast of Mexico is really beautiful. Palm trees lined the banks of the coast, together with a mixture of urban design Spain and Mexico. Sea breeze blowing gently invited to dance in the trees along the Banderas bay.
Calling promontory Banderas, our thoughts immediately focused on a famous movie star who played opposite Madonna in the movie "Evita," Antonio Banderas. This handsome man is a prototype of his Latin American countries. So with the weather. On average they look attractive and pleasing to the eye, say for example some kind of famous singer Jenifer Lopez and Gloria Estefan.

I explore the groove sempatkan beautiful city to countryside. Puerto Vallarta is exotic. Although Puerto Vallarta is still a lot to maintain the historic old buildings, it does not mean that modern facilities are not available here. There is available starting from five-star hotel, golf course, where the MICE (meetings, incentive, conference and exhibition), gift shop, to international restaurants, all available here. Its people-friendly and open warm welcome any newcomers.
Once you are satisfied along the curve of her beautiful city, I stopped at a sempatkan shop "Lonchearia" to ward off thirst and fatigue in the legs. Small stall, but clean enough. Coincidence time again quiet visitors.

Is something soothing in the hot afternoon when I realized that the shop owner turned out to be a pretty enough girl. As a preamble icebreaker, I greeted him with a greeting in English, "excuse me, can I have something to drink?" But there came the familiar to the ear. Apparently he could not speak English. He answered as best he could with the language of Mexico I think. What is clear, at that time I again need a fresh drink. With the "language of Tarzan," pointed out that this point, finally I can also drink fresh papaya milkshakes and burgers a la Mexico.

Of the motion-motion, I had noticed that he actually was an attractive girl. But unfortunately, he was not good at English. I wish I could talk together, explore the daily life of the people here. Finally, only the medium of paper and pen kamipun start communicating. When the communication is a dead end, we both laughed. Laugh at our ignorance of each. We like the dumb creatures that are eager to understand and be understood.

Over time I finally did find out that he was called Magdalene, age 16 years, was not in school anymore, and native of Guadalajara, at least every week he returned to his village, meet the mother, as she went to church in the days Domingo.

I really want to sit too long in the bar, while the dots are not we all understand. But it's a shame, once again he's not smart to speak English and bar close at two. Still breezy sea wind on my face that seemed hard to turn away and difficult to be invited to say good-bye. But with a heavy heart, I was only able to say gracias, adios Magdalena!

White ship VS Blue ship

Do you know why there is a cruise ship called white and one blue ship called?
Here's the story. Cruise ships on the face of the earth above the sea and sailing had been designed as the floating hotel, floating hotel alias. The facilities available are also very complete, starting from the casino, theater, swimming pool, fitness center & SPA, library yards to mini golf.
Part of the ship is usually divided into several levels, ie from the top is the sky deck, sports deck, Lido Deck, navigation deck, upper promenade, promenade, lower promenade, and the play deck. The main entrance or the entrance gate is usually on the main deck there. While steering the ship was in navigation deck.
The overall level of the visible and sea surface sticking. Meanwhile there are still several decks below sea level, where most of the crew lived, the A deck and B deck, and deck machinery for power generation.
For cruise ships under the flag of Holland America Lines (where I used to work) has a dominant color of navy blue, with white color combination on top. Meanwhile, other cruise ships have an average of pure white color. That is why, other than cruise ships is called ship white HAL. Famous names such as white ships: Carnival Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Cunard Line, Royal Caribbean, Windstar Cruises, Seabourn Cruises, and Princess Cruises.

Beware of scams Working At Cruises Ships

Beware of scams Working At Cruises!
Lately, I often read some job ads on the yacht with the lure of substantial salaries. These advertisements were misleading many. Address labor recruitment agencies made subtle and not obvious. Even just a mailing address, aka PO BOX. These are mostly grouped with the dark agents to a white board (the term for ships other than ships Holland America Lines).
Many mournful event which has happened to some friends who so desire to be able to go to work on this white board. It's also a lot of money they should transfer to the address that is not clear that in a foreign country. The result was asked to wait and wait.
Remorse and useless. Money was flying millions. If want to prosecute, the address where the demands addressed? Pictured is the path length, distant bureaucracies that must pass before the money transferred already be back. It could be the cost to care for indemnity could be far greater than the value of money that had already paid to the agent the dark white ship.

Coba Wisata Kuliner Kota Jogja

Sekitar th 80-an nuansa tradisional (baca: warung makan sederhana) begitu mendominasi wisata kuliner di Jogja.
Table manner kelas hotel berbintang, ruangan sejuk ber ac sampai tata cara bersantap menjadi aturan ketika bersantap.
“Kita ingin menghadirkan kenyamanan.
